Oh yeah, VHS is awesome for this kind of stuff!

I have a bunch of 'em, but they're mostly just mainstream stuff. The only REALLY cool one that I have is Suspiria...pretty sure its ancient, from the look of the box. I bought it at a second hand shop for about $2, and it's easily become one of the highlights of my collection.

problem is VHS tapes are so big, plus prone to damage due to the very nature of how they play. plus they oxidize and go to hell after a while.

i understand the appeal of grain - but i also appreciate seeing a movie without tracking problems and actually being able to see what the hell is going on when someone's being chased through the woods with an axe - or in a dark dorm hallway.

if i wanted suspense without being able to see anything - i'd listen to old radio programs :)

US has NTSC (and maybe Japan?) and the rest of the world has PAL. But most modern players will play everything.

No but different places in the world have different playing systems - Europe for the most part use PAL (except France and a few other countrys use Secam, I think)

USA/Canada and japan/Korea us NTSC.

I have 100's and 100's of old VHS ex rentals - I wish i could find the pics i had of em. They're all up in the attic at the moment. I have some pretty cool/rare ones ANTRO/ABSURD/LOVECAMP 7 etc etc.

I love the old 'Video Nasty' cover art.

If only it was HDC Awards time - I think we've found our new Irrelevant Poster. Sorry, Psycom Sweetie, but this guy takes it.
