The Raid…The Indonesian action epic!

The Hike

Kate (Zara Phythian) is back from a tour of duty in Afghanistan after seeing her soldier boyfriend die in combat. She has reunited with her best friends back home, who whisk her away on a ‘healing’ camping trip to a picturesque and remote area of the British countryside.

The girls make their way into the woods in search of the perfect place to camp, to forget their sorrows, and enjoy their time together. On their hike, they come across a mysterious group of Eastern Europeans, who seem to be living off the land. They quickly move on to avoid an awkward confrontation and continue to their destination.

When they reach Sunset Point, they meet a group of rock climbers and form a quick and flirtatious friendship. But when darkness falls, and one of their friends goes missing, the girls will be forced to rely on each other, and the rock climbers to find their friend and get out of the woods in one piece.

William Friedkin‘s “Killer Joe” was the best surprise we had in Venice this year, arguably “The Exorcist” director’s best film in decades, a grimy, nasty, hugely enjoyable black comedy with excellent performances from Matthew McConaughey, Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church and Gina Gershon. According to Deadline, producer Mickey Liddell is in talks for the rights to the film. Slightly unusually, as his Liddell Entertainment isn’t a distributor, the company will seek another company to partner with them in the film’s release.

THE GOON ...how to kill zombies, Goon-style.

Still seeking funding, the official Twitter released the following early rough test animation for the David Fincher / Blur Studios / Dark Horse Entertainment produced film The Goon.

Based on the Dark Horse Comic's series by Eric Powell, stars Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti provide the voices for the following test.

The Goon is a comic book series created by Eric Powell in 1999. The story is about the adventures of the Goon, a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for the feared mobster Labrazio. The Goon (and his sidekick Franky) often get tied up in other machinations, often in relation to the evil zombie gangs under the command of the Nameless Zombie Priest.

BLOOD WIDOW ...looks promising for an indie.

The film by Jeremiah Buckhalt is a throwback slasher flick which takes its cues from classic slasher movies from the 70s and early 80s such as Friday the 13th, Halloween, Black Christmas, and My Bloody Valentine. With no CGI being used, this film could prove to be a winner!!

SIX DEGREES OF HELL ...with Corey Feldmen, Jill Whelan, Brian Anthony Wilson, Susan Moses and Tom McCarthy.

Six lives are caught up in a supernatural perfect storm as an evil threatens one of them and to tear apart the soul of a small Pennsylvania town.

DEAD DREAMS ...official unrated trailer for the horror/thriller.

Carl finds himself in a deserted motel suffering from memory loss. He is visited by a mysterious man that he comes to know as the Sandman. As Carl learns more about the life he has recently forgotten, he is forced to face the worst kind of evil: seeking vengeance against a psychopathic serial killer who has brutally murdered his wife.

THE WOMAN ...directed by Lucky McKee, based on the bestselling novel by Jack Ketchum.

Starring Pollyanna McIntosh, Sean Bridgers and Angela Bettis, the film prompted furious debates and walkouts during its world premiere in the Park City at Midnight program at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Reports surfaced of people becoming sick while watching the graphic scenes and one irate Sundance audience member went so far as to say THE WOMAN "ought to be confiscated, burned. There's no value in showing this to anyone." Whether a "wonderfully bizarre tale" or an "inhumane degradation of women," you'll have to decide for yourself.
