The Descent -- It wasn't the most enjoyable movie experience because the person I went with is not into "horror" movies and showed up to the theater five minutes after the start time of the movie. (She's family, so I gotta love her...or so she says.:p) The reason she HAD to go see it with me was because it was payback time. She dragged me to Date Movie, so it was my turn to inflict a little misery. She got off lucky if you ask me. I was originally going to make her see The Hills Have Eyes, but our schedules wouldn't allow it.
As for the movie...I liked it, although it was a little slow at the beginning. Now before anyone starts complaining, I don't have a problem with setting up background information or providing character development, but all of it dragged on just a little longer than necessary IMO.
Being a tad claustrophobic myself, the cave scenes left me a little breathless. All that climbing through tunnels, being in the dark, etc. got to me. And those "monster men" were pretty creepy.
I read that the original ending was changed to the one in theaters now because the original one seemed too "hopeless." Well, I don't know what their definition of "hopeless" is, but the ending they're showing now seems pretty "hopeless" to me. I'm anxious to see the original ending and compare levels of "hopelessness."
