Richard Laymon...

Hey all, yep I'm new *waves*

I thought I would just dive right in since I'm not much for introductions.

Who here has read any of Richard Laymon's books?

A friend of mine suggested him to me, and I was able to find his novels in volumes, so I grabbed a few. My first thoughts upon reading "Flesh" was whoa, this guy is awesome! There were parts where I got so on edge that sounds made me jump, it was great!

So then I read Resurrection Dreams... and it was too similar to Flesh, IMO.
I mean, not so much the story line, but the characters. It was kind of annoying...
Maybe it was just a bad choice to place those two books in the same volume.
The story was still interesting and kept me turning the pages, but bah! I hate it when it seems like writers just re-use the same character templates.

I also read the first story in The Beast House Trilogy... interesting... pretty twisted. I read maybe half of the second, it started to get boring. I would say most of the time, I'm not one to skim through a book, even if I don't like it much. Once I start I finish. But not in this case... By the third book I thought the whole thing was kind of stale. I didn't even read half of the third.

I'm a little upset that I thought I had a writer who's stories I could get into... only to find that his stories get old so fast.

Maybe I'm being too hasty, and he has other great novels... if you can suggest any that would be great. Or just complain about anything he's written that you don't like, haha...
