Doom 2 cometh too?!

August 4, 2008

While 2005's film adaptation of Doom was neither a critical nor commercial success, that isn't stopping the game's developer calling for a sequel.

Speaking to Kotaku, id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead said "Personally I'd like to do another Doom movie - I thought working with it was a blast. There are some lessons we learned. The best way to do things better is to get the experience."

Universal currently own the film rights to the game, but Hollenshead believes that the forthcoming Doom 4 game will help inspire a sequel.

"We'll see what happens when we get further along in development of the game and there's more buzz and we share more about what the game will be about. As the buzz meter starts to go up, that may kind of kick-start the guys over at Universal."

Well now, Doom 2 could work, as long as they bring in DEMONS FROM HELL!

I'd prefer a sequel to the game as to a sequel for the movie.

Amen to that, pretend the sucky one didnt exist.

Doom doesnt have a deep story, but for as shallow as it is, it is a good story

I've actually been hoping for a sequel; just so that hopefully this time they'll get it right you know?

I'm a huge fan of the game, having grown up with my dad playing it, and I really want see more demons rather than zombies because it seemed like there were more zombies shown than demons...I really want to see the creatures and the spider one especially; have it look like the game you know??

That's the best idea I've heard so far.

Just as long as Uwe Boll doesn't direct!

But hopefully there will be demons people can identify, because (for me) I didn't recognize any of them; but then again I've only seen my dad play 1 and 2

they used the general look and feel of doom 3 for the movie, which means the oldies were there, they were just retooled, so none of them looked the same.

Aside from zombies, the creature stuck in the nano-door was an imp, the big fucker in the pit was a hell knight, and the wheel-chair monster in the first person scene was a pinky demon.

Of course, the stupid "mutant" story line didnt leave room for classics like the cacodaemon and lost souls...
