Mystery Of The Skull In The Rubbish

Australia - Police are looking for a heads-up over the mystery of a skull thrown into a Central Coast recycling bin.

The incomplete skull was discovered amongst waste by a worker at a Wyong recycling service about 10am yesterday, police said.

A forensic examination revealed the skull was up to 50 years old and detectives believe it was a medical training aid, police said.

"It was found on the production line at a recycling station amongst recyclable material," a police spokesman said.

"It's thought to be a training aid like those used in hospitals and universities.

"It looks like someone's put it into the recylcing half of their bin."

Detectives think the skull was collected from an area bounded by Norah Head to Kanwal to Charmhaven between Monday and yesterday.

Police have asked anyone who knows about the skull or might have discarded it accidentally to phone Tuggerah Lakes detectives.
