A New Thread For Coffee.

As in, this is the new thread, for discussing coffee, properties of, coffee.

I was given a coffee maker over the holidays by a really nice person. Well actually it was a gift card that I took down to the local department store and used to buy a coffee maker. I haven't had a coffee maker for quite some time now! And so I went to Ralphs and bought some nice fresh ground coffee. I am making some right now, and it really tastes good! I am used to instant coffee--good type of instant coffee, but nothing beats the real thing.

The coffee I am making now is called "Breakfast Blend," which is sort of vague; it could mean anything, it could have anything in it. But whatever it is, it is aromatic and tasty. What kind of coffee are you having?

I am so happy you now have a coffee maker!! Celebration!!!

I am drinking French Vanilla Whole Bean by Folgers-not my fav coffee company but I just can't afford $8 bags of beans *shakes fist at greedy colombians*

Do you have a grinder? Cause then you could buy beans and have fresh yummy coffee pot coffee:)

French Vanilla Whole Bean---omigod, omigod! That sounds good too.

I do have a grinder, but I have been grinding my beans at the store, because my grinder is sort of uneven--it grinds some of the coffee too fine and some too coarse, so it brews sort of weird. They have one of those industrial-type grinders at Ralphs and it seems to do better than the one I have, nice even grind. Yummmmmmmm

My favorite coffee is now Community Coffee Medium Roast (thanks to my cousin in Florida). I have to buy it online because they don't sell it up here in the North. My second favorite is Community Coffee Between Roast-yummy!

For after dinner my favorite is Folger's Chocolate Silk coffee with Coffeemate Peppermint Mocha liquid creamer. Good stuff!

I love trying the different flavors in my coffee. So far, the chocolate/peppermint mix is the best I've found so far.

I have to try it.
I was thinking, how do they make a flavored bean?
I mean I understand the coffee bean growing process and how they make different strengths of bean-but how do they make flavor?
Do they add it after ,in the roaster or what?

coffee purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr before going to work.

Mostly black, sometimes with creamer and sometimes with creamer and Equal (TM). Lately I have been adding ginger to the coffee, gives it a gingerbread kind of flavor. 2 Ginger Altoids (TM) dissolved in a cup will do it, or you can add ground ginger to the coffee when you brew.

Hmm, I have no idea. My guess would be that they add the flavor during the roasting process.

Now that I have you thinking about the chocolate/peppermint mix - they only have the creamer in the stores at holiday time! Sorry!
