The original is pretty good...and that's about it. The remake that's out now is very good, actually, though. So pay $4 at the rental store to see the original, then use the remaining $6 or so to go see the new one in theaters. There's the game plan. BREAK!

Sorry guy's but I must disagee. IMO The remake was total CRAP. The problems with most horror movies nowaday's is, the director is tryng for the scare , but missing it totaly. It's all about the gore or the effects. The cool thing about the original was, you never saw the GHOST! In the remake, there popping up everywhere. Probably the scariest part of the Original was, ****SPOILER****, the red eyes floating around outside the kids window. For me there is nothing scary about the Known, it's the unknow that is mysterious and terrifing. Now do't get me wrong, I love the GORE and effects just as much as the next person, but it's a GHOST STORY, not a Slasher film or and ARNIE movie. The Exorsits was a great mix of gore and the unknown. The closest thing to a good horror film in the past couple of years, for me, was the Grudge. I loved the whole clostriphobic atmosphere, the "not belonging" and "no matter where you go and what you do, it will still find you". That's a great horror film for me.

I half agree, because that's usually how I feel, but the new Amityville really didn't have that much gore in it at all. Think about it. It just had a new, kind of refreshing look and feel to it that I enjoyed. So that's why I liked it. But usually I agree...I hated the new TCM.

I honestly didn't get into it, I felt that it draged alittle and I didn't think that there was any climax, especailly the ending, I thought it was stupied. But this is coming from the guy who thinks Alien is one of the greatest movies of all time :D

I haven't seen the remake and even though I am rather vocal about being tired of all the remakes (which I am), I am actually looking forward to seeing it.

The original kind of creeped me out when I was a kid (I was a wimp) but really, it isn't that great of a film. It is boring in spots and what the hell was up with Rod Steiger anyway? He just overacted his way through his part. That was some of the worst acting I have seen from a good actor ever. Well, except for Burton in Exorcist II.

But it has its bright spots. ;)

Alien is an amazing movie, don't be ashamed of liking it. On the other hand, I don't think anyone should be ashamed of liking anything. To each his own...
