LOL, yes EMO and Goth really did end up in different realms of reality. I agree EMO unfortunately evolved into a bit of a whiny thing, ok a totally whiny thing. I just found it interesting that it's origin was in the hard core punk thing.

The ones I know don't listen to anything I would really consider anywhere near punk.
