What was the technology selling point? Just new CGI you think?

The why is answered in the movie in a meta / inside joke I think. Which I borderline hated those scenes. I did post some bullet point comments on the HorrorDVDs topic here.

In defense of the movie, Cyberpunk movies are usually a tough sell. Even the original Matrix was a word of mouth thing at first I think. The sequel was really big. And the final one according to wiki made less than the original.

From what I recall, the special effects were revolutionary at the time. The bullet time technology made the film unique and was copied numerous times afterwards.

THE DOOR IN THE FLOOR (2004). Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger are both good as parents trying to recover from a tragedy and hoping the hire of an aspiring writer will aid in that. Some good moments in here, but weird throughout and Jeff's character is really a tool, especially the way He treats Mimi Rogers, who has an eye opening scene here. **1/2

Ha, I've always said the original would have went down more favourably in history if the original sequels weren't attached. This new one is just an extension of all that.

Yeah I don't want to spoil the movie. But the so called Meta thing in the movie addresses that.

I don't think the original had the perfect ending unless you like endings on cliffhangers. I don't think The Matrix has a true ending yet. Perhaps it would be good to end the series as an anime movie.

Something like Megazone 23, which the directors say they weren't influenced by has a better true ending. At least Megazone 23 Part 2 and Part 3. I hate the ending to Megazone 23 Part 1.
