Well, I'd be thinking, even if they don't meet this particular funding goal, it doesn't necessarily mean they aren't guaranteeing a refund if they don't go ahead with the film project. But I'm not saying they are guaranteeing a refund if they don't go ahead with the film. What I gathered from this thread is the director has access to funds to make the film, this is just one of means to getting the funds.
