Not a problem. Love the new avatar BTW. To those who are asking how you get Photoshop - it is a commercial program (ie buy it from a shop). I think you can download a free trial from Adobe's website ( www.adobe.com ). There are probably other programs that do the same thing (although I haven't tried them). There is a free program called GIMP ( www.gimp.org ) that is supposed to be very close to Photoshop in functionality. There is even a version called GIMPshop that has a similar user interface to Photoshop. Although I haven't tried, what you need is a paint or image editing program that will let you specify the pixel dimensions of your picture, and then alter the quailty of JPEG that you are saving. |

Thanks ManchestrMorgue. I'm going to try the Gimp because it's free and tell you how it is.

I haven't tried paint.net - will it allow you to specify pixel dimensions and JPEG quality? If it does, it would be quite suitable. I am sure a number of the free image editing programs would do the job - it's not a high-end function. But I am not sure if/how they would do it as my experience has been with Photoshop. If you guys are really stuck, I would be happy to install a free program on my computer and work out how to do it, and post instructions. So see how you go and if there is no joy, let me know. |
