Working on my list...I have a few pretty obscure ones sitting on my shelf waiting to be watched, I'll have to check them out before sending mine in.

the challenge here is 'unknown'

a lot of the people here specifically have had extensive exposure to horror films that most anyone else would find unknown.

so i'm thinking - is it unknown to most of the people here that qualifies it ?
In that case you'd have to go with mostly older films that a lot of the younger folks havent seen yet. (and those will likely be known to the older folks)

this is much harder than it looks .. i've only come up with 4 so far.

for example - a year ago i would have said Cemetary Man .. but its been talked a lot about here..

It doesn't have to be completely unkown. It can also be overlooked or underappreciated. Cemetery Man would have been a fine choice, except that it was on the HDC Top 100.

I don't expect every movie to be something so obscure that it's been completely lost in the annals of time. I'm not saying that it can't be, either. That's another reason the judges are there. They very well may declare something too well known to be a hidden gem. For instance, I'm sure no one would consider Child's Play obscure. A good movie, yes, but maybe not the best choice for a Hidden Gem
