To all Neil Gaiman fans ("Stardust").

"Stardust" is not Gaimans best novel, in my honest opinion, and the BBC production of my favorite "Neverwhere" was a HUUUUUGE disappointment to me. But it seems that hollywood has finally got their eyes up for his work and unique mind. I mean..... LOOK AT THE CAST, FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486655/

I find it rather insulting. Well..... Except for "Dr. Who" that is. I donīt know why, but for some reason the low budget production fitted Dr. Who perfectly.:) Oh, and i LOVED "Red Dwarf" as well. I think i tollerated the shitty budget of both "Who" and "Red Dwarf" because they were meant to be B-sci-fi and werenīt to be taken seriously in any way.

i find that bbc productions (the one's i've seen) rely on entheusiastic performances rather than slick production values. i like the inventivness of the effects and set design. when i was a kid i didnt like them much either but i since adjusted my expectations accordingly. another good BBC production was the CS Lewis Narnia series. |

I really liked the novel.(Stardust) True, was not one of Neil's best books but pretty damn good. Maybe this BBC production isn't up to par because Jane Goldman did the screenplay? It's a thought. Last edited by novakru; 07-27-2006 at 05:37 PM. |

No, the huge problem with the BBC production was the insultingly low budget they spend on the scenery and makeup. "Neverwhere" deserved more. MUCH more.
