punk didnt begin as a political statement ..
it was a kick in the face to the popular music of that time ..
then it spread to being just 'in your face' - a big fuck you to everything and anything...disenchanted youth - shocking the old folks and all thet.

Some bands later concentrated on the anarchyst angle and made it a political thing..
