Lucio Fulci is a hack- was a hack- is a hack. My opinions on him are very well versed and well known. And quite controversial, to my surprise. I wasn't aware that to be a horror fan, I had to be a robot and like everything certain people tell me to. That's the way it's been on other boards...
The Beyond and Don't Torture a Duckling weren't terrible films- but pretty much everything else he touched was. The New York Ripper is a dispicable, miserable excuse for a movie. It's gore was used to cover up the fact that the movie is blatantly misogynistic, and disgusting at that. But since I haven't had any luck so far in appealing to the intelligence of Fulci fans, I digress. Zombie is hugely overrated.
I know that there is a real scale of badness, that it's often an abstract concept. And I know the difference between good-bad and bad-bad. And Fulci was just bad-bad-bad...
Dario Argento on the other hand has been the most consistent, innovative, brilliant, and ambitious of the 3. Even his lowest film, by any standard, would be fascinating!

At least Fulci didn't make the same fuck'n movie over and over again for thirty years.
