Hmmm, I have always thought Phantasm was kind of creepy. The Tallman is enough to creep anyone out.

Poltergeist did it for me when I was younger.

Nowadays I don't have one specific one, but here are some that freaked me out a bit:

(Anything with Freddy Kreuger, to start out with.)

The Ring (and Ringu)

The Eye

Audition

Last House on the Left

Has anyone ever listened to the commentary on the LHotL DVD? Both film-makers seem to kick themselves for making this, and seem to think it is trash, but I really liked it. It got down to that basest level of humanity and just how scary it can be. The same goes with Audition, though I'm still scratching my head about that one. But the girl in that one was one sadistic f*ck, at any rate.

First off The Grudge was awesome .... I thought...I have yet to find a movie that scares me... When I was younger my reply would have been Barney.. a purple dinosaur that sings...something is just not right there...would scare anyone I would think... Actually, alot of kids shows are twisted as hell no wonder they have issues;) ... At least we can still rely on good horror flicks to set them straight:p hehehe

Yeah, I just saw the trailer before "Resident Evil: Apocalypse", looks like its going to be one big part remake, but it should be interesting. I don't know how well the "Ju-on" format is going to play for American audiences. They're well made, but the plots don't ever seem to really go anywhere.

get into asian horror

I would agree the Exorcist still holds up years after it was made for chills, but Hollywood be warned the Japanese are coming - have a look at The Tale Of 2 Sisters for some good jump out of your seats moments and for sheer creepy atmosphere it has to be Dark Water (a great homage to Don't look now) and lastly for sheer gruesome and violent horror Audition - this film actually made me squirm and I had to look away from some of the torture scenes painfully brilliant filmmaking.
