I haven't seen flash gordon since I was a kid. Might have to give it a day in court seeing as there's a couple of cheap copies floating around.

i'd grab it in a second.

i dont think it's on DVD here (i havent seen it if it is)
but i do have a nice widescreen laserdisc :)

to really 'get' this movie it helps if you've read the comics from back in the day - you get a better sense of what they were shooting for re. the artistic vision ...
i think this movie deserved some kind of award for set/fashion design.

i always loved the title sequence as well.

Evil Breed: The Legend of Samhain

This was a low budget film starring a couple of porn stars and Richard Greico. Not very good at all. There was a small amount of gore, but it looked shitty. Much less nudity than you'd expect with 2 female pornstars in the leads roles and the plot itself was pretty weak. All in all, save yourself some time and skip it.

When a Stranger Calls (remake)

I almost liked this better than the original. It seemed to drag less and had a faster pace to it. I also liked the new re-telling of the story better than the old. The acting was fine, the direction was fine. The only missing was the gore, which was basically non-existent on screen. Overall, this was a pretty good remake of an average-to-begin-with film.

C+
