i read the book more than a year after the first time i saw the movie ( in the theater) and kept askign myself, "Why did they change this?" thew movie was a passable "trapped with a monster" movie, but the book was just great. They completely changed most of the characters, and the plot to the point that the movie bears little resemblance to the book. And they dropped the best character (the fbi agent who's name escapes me)

I'm reading another in the Pendergast series:BRIMSTONE. He's like the modern Sherlock Holmes. The novel I'm reading is about the devil murdering various people or so it seems. Great stuff!

I've never read the book, but I saw the movie for the first time about a year back and absolutely loved it...was throughly entertained from start to finish.

Probably one of the most fun modern "monster" movies that I've seen, IMO.
