And as for this film supposedly being a metaphor for gay rights... I will tell you right now, it's not. And anyone that thinks it is has obviously never read the comic books because the humans fearing/hating/wanting to cure the mutants has been an ongoing storyline since the comics came out in the early 60s. If anything it was probably more of a parallel to the Civil Rights movement back then, but it is certainly not something new that Hollywood just came up with to bring attention to some homosexual agenda. It's always been a part of the X-Men story.

i did read
the comics .. and yep that theme was there - but it lends itself to
the theme of
the moral majority wanting to 'cure gays' - not understanding them - feeling threatened by them.
the theme was there before for sure but its easy to see where
the person who made this film took
the ball and ran with it in s slightly different bent. its in
the aesthetic of
the film, not just
the history of
the comic.
