Woman Fed Husband Poisoned Tacos
Tainted Tacos: Woman Allegedly Plots Poisoning
PORTLAND -- A Portland woman is accused of trying to kill her husband with rat poison-laced tacos. Carrie Lynn Wheeler made her first court appearance Thursday. She faces three counts of attempted murder. Wheeler allegedly admitted to a detective that first she ground up prescription medications and put them in her husband's drink, but he only became dizzy. She later mixed rat poison into a taco meal and served them to her husband. It is unknown how much he ate, but police say he will be OK. "We interviewed the suspect. We believe the suspect did intend to kill her husband using poison, and we had probable cause to arrest the suspect and we've done so," Portland Police Bureau spokesman Sgt. Brian Schmautz told KOIN News 6. The suspect is held on $750,000 bail, and a grand jury investigation is set for Sept. 10.
