Cabal
Has anyone read Cabal by Clive Barker? It's a moderate length novella which was the basis for the film Nightbreed. This is my favourite of all Barker's books, and is far better than The Hellbound Heart, which was the book around which Hellraiser was made. Unfortunately, Barker excelled in his production of Hellraiser, and completely flopped with Nightbreed. This book could be such a good film too, though high budget. I desperately want someone to remake it. Does anyone else read Clive Barker? Not strictly horror, I know.

Clive Barker is probably my favorite author. Imajica and Cabal are my two favorite Barker works. I also like Nightbreed, though admittedly it could have been a much better film.
And I do agree that it is a much better novella than The Hellbound Heart. I think that particular story just works better as a film, so oddly enough I like the movie Hellraiser a lot better than the book. Which hardly ever happpens. |
