Comfort in Horror Movies
https://broadly.vice.com/en_us/artic...tm_source=dmfb
It may not make sense, but some people with anxiety disorders–myself included—love nothing more than calming down with a terrifying film. I talked to researchers to find out why. I guess my amygdala is desensitized to horror movies. I rarely jump from jump scares and never feel dread or apprehension watching horror movies.

Good article. Makes a lot of sense. I have pretty bad anxiety and horror movies always seem to settle me. Never really thought about it though.

Is it strange that I find a lot of 80's horror films cozy?

I don't think so. I feel the same way.

Same here. They're timid in a lot of ways compared to current films.
