movies about living heads...
I'm new here (shucks)! I've lurked through the posts for a while, and figure this is the place to pose my question. I'm trying to find a film about a head in a jar (or a box, can't remember). Saw it when I was a kid... wrecked me for years. I remember one scene vividly: a wall with "detached" arms, later revealed to be men behind the wall with arms stuck through holes. I believe the head was supposed to be "controlling" the arms telepathically? That's basically all I remember, except I think it was in b/w... or maybe just the TV was b/w. I know it wasn't "The Brain That Wouldn't Die". I just have no idea what this film might be called! Any info anyone could provide would be very much appreciated! Even if you're not sure about your suggestions, please suggest away! Thanks!

It might be The Head, but I haven't seen it in years. The guy's head was kept in a tank with electrodres stuck to it. Alpha has it on DVD for like eight bucks or something.
Definitely not Atomic Brain (AKA Monstrosity). Could possibly be The Thing That Couldn't Die, a Universal B movie from 1958 that reuses the music from Creature From the Black Lagoon. It's kida atmospheric and used to play a lot on late-night TV and creature features. In it, a girl using a dowsing rod unearths the severed head of a Spanish wizard who wants to reconnect with his body. He (the head) hypnotizes the locals to carry him around and do his bidding and at the end summons up his corpse. My favorite animated head movie--though not what you're looking for--is the The Frozen Dead. "Kill me, kill me..." Great stuff. |

good leads
Thanks for the input... "The Head" sounds like a promising lead. I'm gonna try and track that one down. You mentioned Alpha... is that a video website? Could I trouble you for the URL?
As a side note, two other movies that scared the crap out of me as a kid (not about heads): "Tourist Trap" and "Don't Look in the Basement"... I had forgotten the names of these also. Finally tracked them down a while back. Any fans of these? |

I own Dont Look in the Basement, but I've never watched the whole thing. Is is about like a mental institution and a new nurse comes then a whole mess of weird crap starts happening? I guess I'll watch it this weekend.
