Halloween horror has gone down?

Some of these points are very valid -

Saw's umpteenth sequel hits the BO and makes itself as yet another profitable venture, while original stuff like Trick 'r Treat never got a wide release? Shocking.

Will we see some original horror specifically aimed at the Halloween season? Time will tell, although I have a feeling we will keep having plenty more Saw sequels until they can keep churning them out. A sad state of affairs, really.

Yeah, but horror really hasn't been a mainstream thing anyway and a LOT of our beloved horror flicks are box office bombs, independent flicks, or foreign fare. Anyway, I hope if people have to make a choice they would buy Trick R' Treat (under $7.00 from Amazon if it's still on sale) over seeing the next Saw but then again, I suggest doing both.

Halloween should be a time to pack into the local cinema and collectively hide behind each others hands in fear.
I reject the premise of this article. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday and I have never celebrated it by going to a movie.
