Neil Marshall's The Ghost of Slaughterford

Neil Marshall -- The Descent and Dog Soldiers -- is set to dip his toe in deadly waters again, with the horror helmer executive producing a supernatural chiller entitled The Ghost of Slaughterford.

Set in 1970s rural England, the film tells the tale of a recently widowed author who seeks solace at an abandoned stately home in the remote village of Slaughterford. While there, however, she is visited by a ghostly, long-dead soul, and soon unearths the town's deadly Satanic secret.

Explains Marshall: "The Ghost of Slaughterford's origins stem from such classic horrors as the Hammer and Amicus films, Dennis Wheatley's Satanic novels, and stories such as The Midwich Cuckoos or The Wicker Man. These are all part of Britain's rich cultural heritage of horror.

"The Ghost of Slaughterford reminds me of a kind of film that Britain doesn't make any more, a slow-burner full of great characters, heart-stopping terror, intrigue, suspense and even romance. I want to make this movie mainly because I want to see this movie."

The film has been written by and will star Axelle Carolyn. It will be directed by Ian D. Fleming, who shot second unit on Marshall's forthcoming action feature Centurion.
