My next door neighbor came knocking earlier to ask our opinion on something. He found a strange object in his allotment. To describe it, it was a black/grey rock of what felt a bit like Carbon. It had obviously been exposed to extreme heat, it's surface being so smooth and looking almost melted. There were also plenty of crystals in it, reminiscent of a piece of igneous rock, wherein the crystals are formed in the cooling of the lava.
He said it just caught his eye, whilst he was doing his gardening. It was a strange shape, with two large indents giving one side the appearance of a T. It was as though it was a part of a larger object which had been broken up, the indents being part of a "bubble" inside the object. I know it sounds slightly crazy, and what are the odds, but after all, it does happen. They have to land somewhere. This thing didn't look man made at all, and I suppose the argument could be made that it was merely a piece of volcanic rock, but it didn't feel like it. Though there were crystals and bubbles, it was too smooth. Like I said, it almost felt like melted carbon. I took a few photos on my phone. I struggled to get good lighting. The flash was too bright and the bulbs were too dark. ![]() This picture shows the "T" shape. ![]() If you can get passed the brightness, this shows the smooth, melted edge ![]() This was the best picture I took of the object, once again showing the T shape. You can see the crystals quite clearly as well. It looks like it was broken on this side, naturally, not cut. ![]() Don't know if any of you have any previous experience with this kind of thing, but whether you do or don't I want to get as many opinions on this as I can. Remember, this was found in the middle of an allotment (a garden not near your house. Usually used for growing vegetables and making compost heaps) in a small town in England. The allotment isn't a particularly rocky place, mainly just dirt and plants/ vegetables.

Judging by the hammer shaped, you have found the petrified genitals of the mighty Thor.

Where was it found exactly?
I would ask a geologist, or maybe post the picture on a rockhound/geology web site. I'm sure someone out there can identify it.

Looks like compressed/superheated carbon or slate.
Could like, have been buried for some time, exposed to different pressures/temps and all that.

I say: Blob meteorite. Best to be safe. Put it in the freezer.
