Short Film - 'Deviant'
Previously screened at many festivals and shown on TV in Europe, 'Deviant' is a creepy short film I directed about a serial prowler who makes a mistake that will start his downfall.
Hope you all enjoy it and dont be too freaked out tonight when you go to lock up the house. Warning: This film contains some scenes of a sexual nature. Okay- there was a LOT I liked about this short film. The lighting, cinematography, music, sound design, direction- all top notch. Way way above what you generally see in indie horror films. You've got a lot of talent.
Also liked the story- so manyt really creepy touches. Also quite original. My two quibbles- when the music switches to that technoish part didn't work for me. It was supposed to increase the tension/suspense at that moment, but it didn't. It just really annoyed me and seemed out of place. A more subtle, eerie effect would have worked better, IMO. The ending. WTF? I don't get it. It left me hanging. Perhaps you meant to do that. Ambiguity. Still- you describe the film on youtube as "a prowler gets his come uppance." Well- no, he doesn't. I give this film a very high A minus. You have a lot of talent and I hope you can continue in your efforts and find a lot of success. Looking forward to seeing your first feature! |

I agree with NE, that was a very good short film.
The change of the music was OK, I thought it reflected the possible emotions of the prowler when he thought he may be caught.
