Family Guy/American Dad
Well, if you stumbled in here I'll assume you've seen, maybe liked those shows...I got something else by Seth McFarlane called
"Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy". It's on dvd now, not sure where/if it ever aired. It's about 20 random "skits" done in the style McFarlane is known for. Really, a great entertainer. and I can't NOT laugh at Fred Flintstone taking a shit. Highly recommended.

If these skits are the same as the ones I've seen on utube, then ya, they are pretty funny. I don't care if it's 'dumb humor', I think Seth McFarlanes shows are awesome.

I thought this was going to be a topic where I could bitch about how I hated Family Guy and American Dad. I saw a couple of the skits on Youtube, the Mario one and a couple I don't quite remember. But I remember not even grinning.

I don't really have anything against this kind of humor, but I'm not a big fan either. If I happen to stumble across Family Guy on TV I'll usually watch some of it, but I can only take it in small doses.
I caught a few of the Cavalcade shorts on YouTube...pretty much the same opinion. Amusing for sure, but nothing special.

I usually catch Family Guy while I'm eating dinner. Alway guarnteed a laugh.
American Dad isn't too bad. Essentially a cartoon version of Sledge Hammer. |

Family Guy is great because there's so much to appreciate at once. A lot of people don't get that it's a weird, postmodern antisitcom that constantly comments on what it means to be on tv or part of the cultural landscape. It'd be one thing if it just did this and appealed to snooty bastards, but it's full of some of the best tasteless humor I've ever seen. The Prom Night Dumpster Baby and FCC musical numbers are awesome. American Dad, on the other hand isn't as strong because it tries to do what Family Guy does and tack a plot on. It behaves like a tv show and I don't think Seth Mc Farlane is good at tv that acts like tv.
