Organizing Your Collections

I've been screwing around a bit with this program today, and figured I would share.

It's called Libra:

Site

..........

Basically, it lets you organize your books, DVD's, games and music CD's, and has a virtual shelf that shows you all of your items. You can even go in and mess with prices, etc. It runs off of Amazon.com's search system.

I mention this, because I have a fairly large collection of stuff. And I know most of the HDC members do as well (Looking at you urgeok!). I'm using this for insurance lists. Sadly, the program does not yet feature VHS, Toys/Collectibles, etc. (Hopefully soon!)

I've been loading in my PS2, XBOX and GC games over the course of the day, and finally finished about an hour ago. Now I'm moving on to movies. :D

That's why I'm starting now. I am already way past my 1,000 movie mark on DVD. I figure I should start now, instead of letting it get any further out of hand.

Oh, I should have mentioned, the program is free.

If you have over 500 DVD's, you're going to be pretty much screwed if something happened to your house as far as insurance goes, unless you have every single one jotted down. They have to insure collections under separate policies than your standard house insurance.

I have a lot of money invested in my collections, and a lot more money in the value of them. I don't want to be put in that situation.

Not yet. I have to figure out what I have exactly. Then they will be when I go purchase the insurance. I really don't want to have to shell out $12,000 to replace them all, should something happen.

I'm also packing up all of my stuff, because I may be moving. So I'm making sure I know where everything is, and what I have, so I know if anything gets lost. :)
