It sucked after the fact.

The marketing for this movie was ingenious. They put up fake sites about the "truth" in this story. They made fake news reels that were played on misc. channels.

For a select few people who heard of this movie coming out before knowing it was a fraud, this was a decent scary flick. However, as soon as the producer/actors came forward a week later, everyone seeing it after the fact was disappointed.

I was privileged enough to see it when it was still rumored to be actual video. It didn't scare the shit out of me...but I farted a little.

I'm with ya on this one, Moonsorrow. I really liked THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT as well. Revisited it Halloween night as a matter of fact (for the first time in a couple years), and while nothing will compare to the chills I got the first time I saw it, I still found it quite effective . . . .

i hated the film as well. but it was very cool idea. and i stopped counting the people that thought it was real in my high school. there was so many of them. when a movie gets people to think like that thats pretty cool. but the movie wasn't so good.

I loved this movie. IMO it's one of the truly scary movies of the 90's. However, I agree with Downside in saying that after it became a known fact that it wasn't real it kinda killed the movie. And the sequel wasn't too good either.
