Wow. There are loads there, the majority of which I agree with. And you said you weren't Horror savvy! You look like you've seen enough to love it! And good to see you around. I was starting to think you might be leaving too!

I really don't. I watched Benji, Old Yeller, and Cujo as a kid. I don't remember Benji being killed, but I know that Old Yeller and Cujo had rabies and although it was sad, they were both a danger to humans and they were also put out of their misery. I wasn't a hardcore animal lover at the time I watched those three movies.

As for Red, I was afraid to watch it but I gave it a try. I thought I could identify with the main character as I've also lost two dogs recently. The loss of a pet is horrible but the scene when the dog is killed isn't graphic. I didn't see the dog at all when the kid shot him. He wasn't tortured. Brian Cox was brilliant in his role. He portrays a good man who simply wants an apology and when he doesn't get that, he goes to the authorities for help. When he's let down, he does not fly into a rage and kill anyone. He only defends himself. I'm not sure I could handle the situation the way he did. I admire his character in the movie.

I generally won't watch movies that display horrible, graphic, senseless killing, and torture of animals. I don't believe in hunting for sport and since I don't eat the meat, I'm against hunting. However, I don't judge others who do. I just don't go hunting with anyone. I raised my son this way. He's always been tenderhearted towards any animal. When he was over 17 years old, he decided he wanted to hunt dove. There wasn't anything I could do. He went with our family without my knowledge. I think he was tired of my brothers insinuating that he was a sissy for not engaging in what they like to do. He recently adopted a mongrel from an animal shelter because he believed no one else would want the dog. I'm proud of him.

I can't stand to watch nature shows on TV anymore. It breaks my heart to see a bullfight. I can't imagine eating a dog as people from different cultures do. Gosh, I even get upset thinking about cows and pigs being slaughtered. I eat meat for protein only.

I don't buy animal furs or coats. I have purchased leather purses, jackets, and shoes because they hold up really well. I mentioned to my mother that I probably wouldn't buy those things anymore and she reminded me that the leather is taken from animals that have already been killed. I still don't like thinking about that. I don't eat veal because I've read about how the baby cows are raised. I despise animal testing.

My brother slammed the door on our dog's leg to break her from trying to come in the house. I've always believed he kicked one of my dogs and broke her leg. I saw my other brother kick his dog several times. Seeing that enraged me. My dad whipped a dog with a water hose for chewing on things. It was awful.

I hated myself when I had to put 3 of my dogs to sleep. I felt guilty that I didn't do it sooner. It's been horrible for me to think I let any of them suffer. I'm still not over it all.

NE, I thought you deserved an explanation. I hope others will post at least a few of their favorite movies, otherwise this thread won't be about what I posted it for.

:)

Hehehe. I liked it because it was a follow-up to the original movie. I like Jake Busey, too. :o

It's not at the top of my list but I did enjoy it. :)
