Vet nursing, anyone?

Sooo....my course enrolls feb 4th.
As I said before, a local vet has been kind enough to offer me some volunteer work in view to paid position when available and I'm more trained at their clinic, which is great...it is, as mentioned by someone else here, a foot in the door.
This is essentially what I needed.
Going to be a kind've busy week...big Australia Day bbq planned...I'm not that patriotic, but I do loves me a bbq, then on tuesday I start my security training which will go on all week (I told you guys this was at the reco of the organisation/position I eventually wanna work for right? Yup ,the RSPCA has told me they lean favourably on those that have a security or police background...and hell, I'm not gonna be a cop, am I? :D ) ...then, on sunday it's my first volunteer day at the clinic.
Now, I expect in the beginning there's gonna be a lot of cleaning, and well, probably looking at some surgery *yech!* too.

So, not that it's the role I'm going to stay with, but ought to be a pretty good start in my understanding of the overall - has anyone had a vet nursing type role before? Know anyone who has?
Just wondering if there's anything specific I ought to train my attention on, or just "do what they tell me" kind've deal?

Hit me back if you've got any ideas/info.

As long as u have great customer service skills..
just take note of your surroundings and listen carefully to instructions.
There could be a lot of cage and kennel cleaning too...and good luck cheebs.

I know a lady who was a veterinary assistant. Be prepared for an emotionally rigorous job, and don't dismiss anything you learn as useless. There will be some weird contingencies. Many moreso than in most jobs.

Oh, that's the least of my worries considering my eventual career...

Absolutely not...good point there.

I do, but I'm not working the front, just with the vets inside.
