Full Moon Features

Was anyone else hooked on the DTV schlock classics from the early nineties? Charles Band was one of the cultivators of my taste for schlock and cheese. What were your favourite FM films? What were your least? If you didn't care for em go ahead and speak it. I loved the Puppet Master films (up to 5), Subspecies, Seedpeople and Castle Freak especially. I was a youngin at the time so I also watched alot of the Moonbeam features too.

I haven't seen many Full Moon movies, except Puppetmaster. I actually thought, despite cheesiness, it was a really good movie. The plot was interesting, even if it did not make much sense and the acting was not too bad either. It certainly isn't a masterpiece, but it is still really good (I would rate 3 and a half stars, possibly four on a five star system). Actually this is strange that you bring this up because I just got that Puppetmaster/Killjoy collection last night (I bought it from Amazon for five dollars). It includes the first nine Puppetmaster films and three Killjoy films. I have seen a couple of the Puppetmaster films, I just don't remember them (now I will have the chance to watch them). Another reason why this is strange that you mention this is that, just last night, I was thinking that this is not really as bad as some people say and I was wondering if anyone else felt like that (I had seen it before, but it had been a while).

Demonic Toys was always my favorite of these. Dollman was great too. Still need to check out Castle Freak.

Full Moon Films was a great company. I still have some of the action figures they manufactured based on Puppet Master. What is Charles Band doing now?

If you haven't seen Castle Freak, I highly recommend it. It is a good adaptation of a Lovecraft classic---better than many adaptions that have been done with larger budgets.

I also very much enjoyed the Subspecies series. It is my favorite vampire franchise.

I had recently purchased a bundle of zombie movies by Full Moon for $10 at the Family Dollar. The three movies I got were The Dead Hate the Living!, The Dead Want Women, and Prison of the Dead. I haven't watched any of them yet but I have a feeling that I'll like them because I like even cheesy zombie movies. :P

I hope you enjoy em, Zombie!

I've picked up a number of Full Moon 3 packs at Dollar General (Trancers, Gingerdead Man, Evil Bong, both PM box sets, Demonic Toys/Dollman). I picked up a 3 pack just the other day with the Killer Eye sequel, Skullheads and another one I can't quite recall...

Charles Band is still behind the wheel at Full Moon, though the films are of decidedly lesser quality anymore, with Paramount not around. I still enjoy a number of them (Gingerdead Man), and am a very forgiving person when it comes to Full Moon.

I loved the original Dollman, Demonic Toys was pretty fun too. I really want to see Netherworld. And: RADU RULES!

I'm glad to see the FM love around these parts.

I really wish that Band would get out from behind the camera though. I would suggest that he go back to producing/stories and let more capable people direct his films, as he did back in the glory days.

Also, I have alot of love for the Empire pictures as well (especially Dolls, From Beyond and Trancers). What were your favourites from the Empire period?

Thank you. :D I've seen a couple of movies by Full Moon on The Midnight Horror Collection and some from the SciFi channel a long time ago. The ones I remember are the Puppet Master movies, Killjoy, Blood Dolls, Meridian, and Decadent Evil. They were all pretty trashy but fun movies. Decadent Evil was one that a lot of people seemed to hate judging from the reviews I read on the internet but I liked it because you had two sleazy vampire strippers named Sugar and Spyce preying on their clients, and Spyce of course was the gothic evil one while Sugar was the sweet and sorta-innocent one (doesn't this remind anybody of the movie Batman Forever? :p ).

One that I really want to see is Evil Bong. I have it on my Midnight Horror Collection DVD but it's one of the movies on there that I haven't bothered to watch yet. I keep telling myself that I'm going to watch all the movies I have on my shelf one day. :)

Is Killjoy any good? The reason I ask is that, as I mentioned, it (the first three movies) came with my Puppet Master movies.

I would recommend Evil Bong, and even the two sequels as well. Easily enjoyable mindless time-wasters. I especially like the grandfather character, one of the best performances in a FM movie ever.

I have Decadent Evil on one of those 8-movie packs. I actually picked up both Midnight Horror packs that had Full Moon movies on them, and I've watched most of them. Demonic Toys 2 was the one I liked the least out of the bunch. It started out well enough, but boy did it drag on like nothing else. :/

Killjoy is pretty good, by FM standards. Watch it, and I hope you enjoy it. It's got this urban/gangster kind of vibe going, but it's cheesy, violent and doesn't take itself seriously at all. :)

I watched Dolls again the other night - haven't seen it since it first came out - still works very well. Good old Stuart Gordon!

Empire Pictures did the classic TerrorVision which I had fond memories of - until watching it again recently. They also did Troll which I still love, Ghoulies, which I never did, Re-Animator which is my favourite ever, and Creepozoids!!

In terms of Full Moon I think Castle Freak will always be the best. Gingerdead Man was just awful. I recall surprisingly enjoying Talisman back at the time. The Prehysteria films were fun, but I think I only saw them as you could rent kids films free in blockbusters at the time!!
