Ugly People Shop at Walmart (Redux)
I'm actually combining two previous threads in this one, I'm thinking new people = new answers. Mainly I'm lazy and don't want to think of new thread topics though.
Now before you say anything, I shop at walmart too. ;) Have you ever noticed that when you go to a flea market or your local walmart, most of the people shopping there are atleast somewhat ugly and some are just downright freakish. When you go to the mall or something there are a lot more beautiful people walking around it seems. Why is this? Because ugly people are generally poor and pretty people are generally not. I think contrary to popular belief, looks are more important than intelligence when it comes to earning money. I know "shallowness" is not a nice personality trait in most people's eyes, but neither is ignorance. Society cares. If they didn't care about appearance and make shallow assumptions, nobody would have a hard time getting a job because of how they looked (piercings, tats etc.) On average, rich people live longer. Dealt with a much harder life, poor people are more prone to suicide, drug addiction, crime etc. On average, rich people are smarter. Having all the educational oportunities that a lot of poor people aren't able to afford. Isn't it depressing to know how much your life depends on your parents? It's rare for a child born into a poor family to ever be rich. I mean it happens, but it's not nearly in the same range as rich parents and rich kids. I used to be so against plastic surgery, but I've come to the decision, that not only do I accept extreme attempts to attain beauty, but I applaud them. It must take guts to leave your face/body in a surgeons hands. I think most people underestimate the power of beauty, and can't understand any pursuit of it that goes above and beyond the norm. Would you ever encourage your child to get plastic surgery? If your child wanted to get plastic surgery, would you oppose them?

"Sorry your ugly hon, just work harder!" As far as Wal-Mart goes I think the reason you see more ugly people there is the fact that so many people from all walks of life shop there and there are simply more uggos in this world.

I would encourage the mto do whatever makes them happy. But I do agree that good looking people have better lifes.
The thing that does piss me off about society is that people do choose looks over other traits.I hate how a girl will choose a good looking asshole jerk off over a avergae nice guy.Damn you society. |

"Good-looking, slim, tall people tend to make more money than their plain-Jane counterparts, according to a study released by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, with researchers finding that beautiful people tend to earn 5 percent more an hour than their less comely colleagues."
I also noticed a trend while out shopping tonight. I usually buy healthier food, whole grains no high fructose etc... and it's always more expensive than the other crap on the shelves. Sooooo,, if you have a poor fat person shopping and trying to buy healthier stuff they probably can't afford it and have to eat the garbage that will continue to increase their waist size. Then they'll make 5% less than somebody better looking and more fit than them. Tsk, tsk.

I've already informed a close friend of mine that if my children turn out to be either ugly or retarded, I am going to give them to her and she can let them live in her basement.
Because, just face it: If your children are ugly or retarded, it's your fault. I simply couldn't handle the guilt. But back to the thread at hand... I wouldn't encourage my children to undergo plastic surgery, no, but a. If I found their visage somewhat wanting, I might give them "tips" on how to... take care of themselves (how to do your hair - how to wear make-up). My mom never really taught me how to do either of those things. I was fine growing up a tomboy, but when, on those rare occasions I wanted to beautify myself, I... just didn't know what to do or where to begin. b. If they wanted plastic surgery, well, I think it would depend on a couple of variables: What the nature of the plastic surgery is (maybe they don't need it and instead need some psychiatric help), what their current money situation is, reasons for doing it, blah blah blah... Honestly I can definitely see myself allowing my children to get plastic surgery... But it would depend on the aforementioned factors. ... While we're on the subject (of the Uggo collective), I just had to renew my license the other day and it seems as though the RMV is a veritable vortex of Uggos and trash. Why is that? I think that MurderDoll makes and interesting connection between the unfortunate relationship between success and beauty, but, how does that connect to the RMV? Doesn't everyone drive, despite success or socioeconomic status? |

But how many parents see their child as ugly? I definetely disagree that the better looking you are, the richer you are. I think it's the exact opposite! The richer you are, the better you can make yourself look. Though my parents work so technically we're working class, we still have a good amount of money. We're not rich but we're closer to being what most would call rich than we are to being poor.
So, if when I'm older I have a child who isn't the best looker, I'll encourage them to do their best and would hope they don't resort to plastic surgery. I don't call surgery bravery. I call it cowardice. Taking the easy way out. You are how you are, and you shouldn't change that just to earn an extra bob. And also, with extreme good looks, vanity is never far behind. I say use your talents to make money. If you're born good looking, then by all means use it to your advantage, but plastic surgery is changing yourself because you couldn't cope with what you did look like. Bravery is the people who are born butt ugly, and don't do everything they can to make themselves fit in better.

I think that you see more ugly/trashy people at Wally World, because they are programed to shop there through advertising. Have you seen the people in their commercials? Maybe, they also think that they will not be the ugliest/trashiest person there. I'm sure a lot of them are also introverts, and don't leave the house very often.
Btw, nice thread Dolly. ;) |

Surgery would be a yes if my kid had like a cleft palate or some birth defect that would keep them from being healthy. Other than that I think that as long as they dress smart it will make up for their unfortunate looks. I'm big on dressing for your body etc etc.
There areee a lot of ugly people in Wal-mart though. I once saw a lady in Wal-mart who was so overweight she had to use a motorized scooter to get around.

Ok, just so we're clear... I'm the one who's paying for this plastic surgery ? Cause that, I would oppose. Whatever money I'm paying for plastic surgery, you'd best believe it's gonna get done on me. Let the little brat suffer through the mocking and teasing and name calling like most of us had to, then do something about it themself, like we all had to. If they want it done when they can pay for it, then good on them for meeting that goal. Plus, I'm already paying for my mom's future procedures, so they're on their own.
