What is the most brutal horror film you have ever seen?

Here are some very brutal films, in my opinion.
Wolf Creek
The Decent
Last House On The Left
Haute Tension/Switchblade Romance
Audition

Those are all the ones I can think of at the moment. Also, what makes a brutal horror movie brutal?

Ok, you're new, so i'll inform you. Don't make 42709260956 threads on your first 10 minutes here, it gets annoying. Also, search for threads before you make them, we have a crappy search engine, but it works nonetheless.

From a horror standpoint, cannibal holocaust, dead alive, and last house on the left.

Non horror, passion of the christ

most brutal to watch, spice world, the olsen twins movie

Brutal...hard to watch?

My usuals:

Last House on the Left and Nekromantik

Audition, yes, the last 25 minutes or so are unbelievably painful to watch. Eesh.

Of course the obvious exploities, Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, etc.

Schramm - penis mutilation aint my thing.
Ichi the Killer - a littel too over the top loses its impact but great movie.
I Spit on Your Grave
House by the Edge of the Park
Bagman - just straight up gore
Aftermath - this is a must see if you havent.
Antropophagus - eating a fetus is legendary.
Beyond the Darkness
Maniac(1980)
Visitor Q
Combat Shock
Live Feed - same premise as Hostel but more gore.

in Audition i loved the pose she did when she loped off the instructors head.

For truly brutal and (almost) pointlessly sadistic shit:

Flowers of Flesh and Blood
Cannibal Holocaust
Hostel (while not extreme in gore, was very sadistic)
The Saw movies (see Hostel's explanation)
