Movie question....

Do european gore films have everything intact when they hit american shores, is it uncut, or just some scenes re-edited? I always see so much about european this, that and the other thing being cut/sensored, ect, but Mothman mentioned in a post about the european "Braindead" versus the american "Dead Alive", the gore is intact, but some scenes are cut differently. Is this the general case or are a lot of european gore films heavily cut when they go under american releases?

I realy dont Know 'cause I'm not a big fan of gore movies, I only know that 5 years ago was too dificult to find Argento's movies here in Spain. Some shops offers US versions of Suspiria, Phenomena, Tenebre etc but a good friend told me tht US versions of that movies were censored. I could belive him but I read the same thing on a book that I bought (Dario Argento Terror's Alchemy)....thanks to god in the last 3 years Argento's movies are reedited here uncensured.

I'm not exactly sure, but I believe that some films were released edited over here back in the Seventies- Eighties. I don't think that distributors do this very much anymore, and when it is done, it's usually marked on the case. Thankfully you can get uncut versions in most cases.

most of my films i've imported from the states or Europe. only a few years ago in the UK you could'nt get films like TCM, Evil Dead, DOTD. It's not as bad as it used to be but some films you can get now which were banned have still been censored by the BBFC, Cannibal Holocaust, LHOTL, Zombi. Sometimes its the other way around e.g: the R2 cut of The Cell contained scenes which were in the deleted scenes of your R1 version, our version of AOD had the apocalypse ending & a few different scenes when it was first releashed on vhs, THe R1 of Hellraiser 1 & 2 had all the gore intact but the sex scenes were trimmed down compared to our R2 version.

Do you really think you can blow the piss out of them?

Usually that's why I try to look for movies that are marked "unrated" or "director's cut". If the gore is intact, I don't want it gettin hacked out. I've heard of countries like Finland still ban movies like "Evil Dead". Would anyone know of a website that has DVD's that are region 1 and 0 that have completely unedited/rearranged-but-uncut versions of horror movies?
