Hell's Kitchen
Okay, i am maybe second behind only Cheeba as the resident foodophile on this site (although barbara is showing herself to be quite the foodie herself), and i watch Food network a disturbing amount, so i was curious about this show.
Seeing the commercials, i thought i was going to be constantly pissed off at Gordon Ramsey, the guy running the show. The commercials show him swearing, throwing away plates of food, and pushing some into people's gests. I assumed i was going to hate him, he looked like a pushy, arrogant asshole. After watching it, i absolutely love the guy. Most of the people are either incompetent or arrogant assholes themselves who expected to get bathe din compliments because they are hotshit in the southside of eastbumfucked's greasy spoon. Gordon is blunt to the pounbt of cruelty, but did not seem to do or say anything uncalled for. I particularly liked it when he called the blonde chicks bimboes and told them to fuck off :) did anyone else catch this? what did you think?

I had forgotten all about the show. In a way I was kinda hoping he would have been an asshole like the commercials showed, but I guess they are going for a sort of "Simon Cowell" of the food industry thing with him.

He is much better than Simon. He is very similar, but doesnt seem unnecesarrily cruel. But when he is cruel, he is brutal. Someof the people in the show were either first chef or executive chef at their restauraunt and were over confident. He took them down way more than a peg.
for yone guy: "You are an exectutive chef?" (smugly)"Yes" "Serving that shit?" (not so smug)"Yes.." "Unbelieveable. That is fucking awful. Step back" but, he gives compliment where they are due. one woman made turkey tacos. he said they looked terrible, but tasted great.

cool, maybe I'll catch it next week then. I figure if I can struggle through every damn episode of the original Iron Chef, then I can at least give that one a watch.

ahh I see FOX has brought the Ramsey experience to the States... great viewing, superb knock downs on par with a heavyweight boxers mean fist.
he's had a few other here, 'Boiling Point' in 98, and 'Beyond Boiling Point' in 2000. More recently hes had couple of other programmes, forget the name, where he travels around the Uk visiting resturants and pulls the menus to pieces, not to mention crucifying the managers at every opportunity... great viewing |

Yes, I've followed Gordon for some time now, across various shows...You're right Vod, he can be a cunt, but....he gets shit done, and expects quality.
If a person is calling themselves a chef, they may as well come at least somewhere near the standard of the expectation of that title. He's direct, and if these folks can swallow their pride and not get touchy about it, they'd be better for it. He's a restaurant owner/manager/chef, so clearly he knows what he's doing. It's a high pressure job, so yeah...if you fuck up, you get whipped into shape in the quickest way possible, he's by FAR not the only chef to be this blunt. Gotta say, I have a great deal of respect for this guy. Haha, I always figured you'd like him, Vod... Quote:
So Gordon would hang around, fix everything up a bit, then revisit a month later? It was a good show, but I'd have liked it to be a little longer term, but it was still an enjoyable watch. Aside from his television career, if you can get a hold of any of his books or recipes, he's very good. |

Actually yeah Shanks, now that you mention it, that WAS the one I was describing...guess I had the names mixed up.., my bad.
Entertaining show, but unfortunately they haven't showed it in any kind of continuity here, which sucks. Good show... |
