Marijuana Legalization

I noticed that the legalization of marijuana was brought up in the thread entitled "Moving". Instead of being off-topic there, I thought that we could discuss it here.

I'm sure that a great lot of you will loudly proclaim that it should be legalized. I, too, believe that it should be.

I also don't use marijuana. I have in the past, but it's not my cup of tea, so to speak. However, I believe that its legalization will solve many problems. Deforestation would grind to a halt. It also has its obvious medicinal purposes.

However, I will also freely admit that its acceptance will pose some new problems. DUI laws would obviously change.

I do not believe that it could be commercialized and taxed, however. The fact is, any idiot with a lamp can grow a good plant. Or do you disagree?

There are many books regarding this topic, also. Has anyone read any? I, myself, do have Jello Biafra's "Grow More Pot" on audio mp3 if anyone is interested. Reach me via AIM if you want the data transfer.

Decriminlized, Yes.

The goverment would fuck it up if it was legalized, they'd add preservitives and shit to it and pure bud straight from a plant would would be a thing of the past. Decriminalize it so a kid can grow his own stash in his back yard.

see the thing is is that its legal in some states of the u.s. to grow x number of plants. The laws state to state vary as well as far as what is considered a misdominor or felony. How strict the man is on you in your state is completly up to you. Choose who you vote for and remeber that the president doesn't call all the shots, you have to make changes on a state to state level. Pay attention to what being voted for, read the paper, get involved with your comunitys local goverment and eventually you will make a change. Until then you're all talk.

Until a couple of months ago, I wasn't legally old enough to vote. I do believe that in this country, you do not matter until old enough to vote or consume...

...which is probably a lot better than any other country.

I so want to pay attention. But then there's other stuff going on...

Do you have a web site that has information about states and the level of... strictness to marijuana plantage?

I'm not familiar with any OTHER countries legal systems in regards to weed, othr than the fact it's usually not legal to carry over a certain amount of bud, and the amount of plants chages area to area, as far as I know.
I dont think legalisation would cause that many problems myself.
It could CLEARLY be used to raise revenue, but then again, there would be pricing issues too.
I dunno, I don't care...I don't really NEED it to be legal, it's not as though anyone's been sent to jail for smoking a blunt...well, sure as fuck not that I know of, however, it would be NICE if the system worked for those that preferred this as an alternative to alcohol.
As for chemically manufacured drugs...fuck 'em, fuck em all.
