Question Predators Chunky Hands - Inricate Equipment.

I just watched AvP... and it got me thinking. Predators have big fat cumbersome hands and fingers, with claw type things on the ends, but all of the equipment they use, such as weapons, machinery and spaceships, seam all too fiddly and intricate, for them to have been able to build, from the design plans for these things.

The majority of this Predator tech has been seen in AvP. As we get to see a lot more equipment and stuff than in previous films, and since Predator with Arnie was in the Jungle, and we only see similar weaponry etc in Predator 2, apart from when the Predator is 'searing' his wounds with that green iluminous stuff, even then his fingers look to chunky to use that burner thing, and the end in the spaceship, we don't really see much.

Some of the weapons, such as the throwing discs and the shoulder cannon, or the telescopic lance would be far too fiddly to make, even if they built machines to build their equipment, say on a production line... how did they manage to build the machines that built these weapons etc.

Also in AvP we see a lot more of their ships, inside and out and get to see holographic computers showing the insides of the pyramid etc.... you could say this is a big plot hole, since we've never seen anything being built, but just used by the Predators.

My only theory could be that the humans, who originaly worshiped them 1000 years ago as seen in AvP, were trained to build these things for the Predators, but to me thats a cop out in a potential sub plot, for showing how the stuff gets made.

what do you think?

my theory is that with makeup FX they end up putting 'gloves' on the actors hands to make him look more alien..this making them more cumberson than they might have been for real.

the other thing is that sci-fi writers - especially movie writers .. often dont consider the physiology of the species when determining what their tools, method of travel, etc should look like.

everything we have and do is based on the fact that we have 2 arms - 2 legs, 2 eyes (in front) ... and the size of all those things.

if we had big claws that we were determined to keep, our tools would be accomodating for that. (not to mention our winter mittens ..

personally .. its just bad makeup effects .. it prevents dexterity and makes everything bigger

Your onto something with the humans building stuff for them, but that still doesnt explain how they would get here in the first place.

I could see them perhaps using prosthetic devices to do intricate work, such as electronics and intricate machinery. Pretty much the way I use tools to repair vehicles. But then there has to be someone to build the tools.

Ever see the equipment that astronauts use in space, they use tools that can do pretty minute and intricate things, because they are lumbering around wearing space suits and huge gloves to insulate themselves from freezing to death in space.

But then that again brings us back to the fact that even those tools are built here on earth.

I know lets ask Gene Rodenberry, or Stephen Hawking maybe they can help.

thats why so many sci-fi films these days have big plot holes, maybe it's too much for the director, to have to worry about things like this... especially film length constrainst etc.

I like that idea, could be possible, there could even be 'mechanic' predators with telekinisis, which are devoted to builing weapons and machinery for the rest of the predators.

has anyone read the comics? maybe, and like with most other comics, the story gets told better.

i have a few avp comics but not all.i read a "potential" plot/story outline over 10 years ago for avp in wizard or something like it and it was fantastic.when i heard that the movie was finally going to be made that's the film i'd hoped for...oh well.the predators were supposedly "geneticaly altered" by what i don't know and their "tech." was barrowed from all over the galaxy.considering the fact they've managed to nail interstellar space travel weapons and fine surgical instruments does'nt seem that far fetched.

not to mention the fact that the actors playing the predators in avp were horrible.kevin peter hall really brought that character to life....something lacking in avp.
