The Little Daily Death

Here's another thing I've been pondering :

does anyone else freak out over going to sleep ...
the fact that you cant remember the moment it happens .. you just lose control and pass out.

i think most people take it for granted but i get thinking about it and it weirds me out ..

its like you die ... for a few hours a night .. and you're reborn every morning..

but i've tried to pinpoint the second when i sleep and its impossible - which makes sense .. but it still freaks me out ...

Have you been puffing the magic dragon?:D

but seriously....

I do find it kinda weird, I've laid down before swearing that I wasn't tired then wake up a few hours later and not know what the hell happened. Another thing I find weird is that you have no idea of what's going on while you're sleeping.

In response to Autin not being aware of what's going on while he sleeps, for some reason I'm quite the opposite. Any change in the room tends to wake me up (unless I'm passed out drunk, then you aren't moving me with a crane.) Doors opening, another person entering the room, lights going on, a toilet flushing down the hall. All of those things wake me right up for some reason. Light sleeper I guess...

Now in response to the topic of the thread... Interesting concept urge. I've never really thought about it so I will probably have to do so before dishing out any sort of intelligent reply.

I will say this though... When I was reading your post, something kept reminding me about deep meditation. Basically you let your body sleep while your mind remains awake. Consciously, you sort of trap yourself at that point between being awake and being asleep. It isn't something that everyone can just do on their firts try though. (I know 2 different techniques though if anyone's interested.) It takes a little practice but once you've got it down it is comparable to being in control of your own dreams.

I think dreams are some of the coolest phenomena on earth. Is anyone able to control their dreams? before they go to sleep or when they are alseep? Are you able to wake yourself up from a dream?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has woken up in the middle of an erotic dream and tried to go back to sleep quickly so as not to lose your place.

Never seems to work.As far as the topic...I never really thought about it as dying for a bit.

i've read that 3AM is the 'midnight of the soul' when your heart slows down to its slowest... you breath less ... closest to death that you can be ..

sounds like more of a romantic notion ..

as far as your suggestion Bwind .. i think the brain needs to sleep as well as your body so i think i'd rather let loose ... besides i like those wild ass crazy dreams that make you go : where the hell did that come from ?

and as far as dirty dreams go - no one will believe this - but i never have them .. sometimes they are 'voyeuristic' but i'm never having sex in my dreams...

my theory is that i am so preoccupied with it when i'm awake, my brain needs a vacation from it at night .. and sticks with violence and pschycadellia ..

True story:

One time during a dream (i cant remember what it was about) i was walking down a nice suburban street when i realized, this IS a dream....

So i went into one of the yards and started nailing this guy's attractive 19 year old daughter right on the lawn. He started yelling at me and i said "Fuck off, its just a dream, what are you going to do?"

He went into the house. I would have continued, but i woke up and had to pee. And i lost my place :(
