weird old memories

i just described an oddball memory i had in the Last Seen Movie thread ..
it was an insignificant thing but it somehow stuck in my head.

it made me think of another far older.

My uncle took me to see planet of the apes when it 1st came out - it was 1968 so i was 7 .. this is almost 40 years ago !

i remember going to a store after the movie got out and my uncle buying me a couple packs of bubblegum cards of the planet of the apes. (shit - they'd be worth a fortune now)

parts of the memory are sketchy - but the feeling is still very strong.

anyone have some really early memories .. not nessessarily movie related - but just weird in the fact that you remember them at all ?

I remember sitting on my grandad's floor reading his magazines and looking over to notice that his toenails were at least an inch and a half long and curved like talons. I was about five. I had nightmares about wrinkly scary bird-men for a while after that.

I remember being in Colorado in 1978 with my step-brother , walking down the side of a highway and thinking how cool it was to be hangin with him and I should enjoy this because it's not going to be for much longer.
3 months later I was an ex-step kid and I never saw him again.
I always wish I could have told him how much I really cared about him and how much I appreciated how nice he was to me.
It meant so much in those turbulant times.

My earliest wierd memory was being in the crib and not being able to do much of anything...and being frustrated by that fact (but not really understanding what 'frustrated' meant )

I remember being about two, and looking at the electrical cord running from a ceiling lamp...trying to figure out what the cord was for, and getting some vague impression that the lamp somehow needed the cord to light up. From around the same time, I remember looking at a couch and wondering what the hell it was! (You know, like, "What is that WEIRD SHAPE??")

When I was first born we lived with my moms parents for about six months, well my grandparents house used to have these saloon style swinging doors that went from the kitchen to the den...I was talking to my mom one day about this and was telling her how I remembered those doors, and she was amazed by the fact of how I could remember that being as young as I was then...I still don't know why that image sticks out in my mind but it does...

I remember when I was at pre-school, I would hide in the same "ingenious" place every time when my mother came to get me, there was a jungle gym type thing with a giant round plastic area you could go inside, holes of different shapes all around, kind of like a giant childs toy. I remember that oddly well.

I remember my dog being hit by a bull, and having to have his leg amputated, and how weirded out I was when I saw him without the leg for the first time - age 5.

I remember I used to live in a house, by the side there was a drainpipe with frogs inside.

To this day I remember the dream that scared me most as a kid, to the point that I can think about it, from beggining to end...and kind of remember the dread.

When I was three, I sprayed RAID in my eyes. I remember looking at the nozzle of the can because I wanted to see it come out. Then I remember having water ran over my eyes to flush it out. Don't remember the pain, though.

I remember being little and being fascinated by the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. I had always had a good imagination, but that really sent it through the roof. I also remember that i loved in indiana at the time, and heard horror stories that playing d&d summoned the devil, and that people who played it were satanic witches who wore black hooded robes and melted babies into candles.

Yay. Christian teachers...

This coming from a state where on eo fthe students had some pretty severe congenital birth defects (Low IQ, bad eyesight... One leg an inch shorter than the other)

His family had a pig in it. Not a PET pig, but the pig was an actual family member... its hard to describe. Oh yeah, in years since, i realized that that kid (he was very nice, he really was) was clearly a 2nd or 3rd generation product of inbreeding.... Lovely state, indiana....

No offence to MovieMan, he's a good one, but damn, no really good memories of that place....
