Why do you watch horror films?
Hi everyone,
I'm a student at Ithaca College and I'm doing a research paper on why people choose to watch horror movies. I found this website and I thought it would be a perfect venue to ask this question. I would greatly appreciate it if you answered the following questions: Why do you watch horror movies? When did you start watching horror movies? How do you feel when you watch a horror movie? What is your favorite horror movie? All responses are welcome. I will probably be quoting some of them in my paper. Thank you!

Why do you watch horror movies?
Because i like to see the blood and guts splatter and to be scared and laugh When did you start watching horror movies? when i was 6 How do you feel when you watch a horror movie? I feel exited and amazed at how the killers dispactch there next enemy What is your favorite horror movie? It's a tie between Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) And Zombie TCM(Texas Chainsaw Massacre) because of it being remembered as a gory film yet there is really no blood and zombie because of the rawness and The fight between a zombie and shark

OK, I'll do it seriously.
Why do you watch horror movies? I don't know. I'm a glutton for punishment. I have nightmares every night, probably because of all the horror movies I've watched. . When did you start watching horror movies? When I was really little. How do you feel when you watch a horror movie? Excited. I find I can really get in to some Horror movies, if the setting is right. What is your favorite horror movie? Probably The Shining. I really got into that movie. I've always been a fan of the more suspenseful horror.

to see something i havent seen before .. escape from reality When did you start watching horror movies? when i was in my early teens How do you feel when you watch a horror movie? depends on the movie .. bored, amused ... just like any other genre. What is your favorite horror movie? phantasm.

Probably more what you were looking for : Why do you watch horror movies? I love watching people die. I sort of view these films as a 'training manual' learn new techniques .. like how to avoid being caught. When did you start watching horror movies? when i was 5 years old. Last House on the Left, I spit On Your Grave .. got them for xmas one year ... and a Doctor Kit with a real bonesaw. How do you feel when you watch a horror movie? usually in a state of sexual frenzy. or self loathing. depends if Peter the cheerleader lobster demon from the attic is watching with me or not. Peter has some ideas for the playroom downstairs. soundproofing, drainage, and a device to move us to another dimention if we get caught 'playing' What is your favorite horror movie? its a tossup between american psycho and yentl. I have a question for you .. it isnt going in a paper - but I'll write it down on a piece of grease stained butchers paper with a black crayon. where do you live .. and what are you wearing right now ? Q: How do you feel when you watch a horror movie? A: Horror movies vary greatly in their effect. Some are bad, cheesy, and funny. Some are depressing, grim, upsetting. Some are exciting, stimulating, fun. There is a GREAT variance, and it is difficult to get bored with that kind of variety. This particular genre has a lot of interesting tonalities. Q: What is your favorite horror movie? A: Probably "Night of the Living Dead," because it succeeds at being horrifying, the basic goal of any horror film. So.........do I get a cookie now??
