Superman

Anyone heard about the new Superman movie? I can't say for sure the rumors are true but I have the feeling it will be made. (I'm serious)

Yesterday we reported that it was rumored that Brandon Routh had been cast as Superman in the upcoming Superman movie, and it has now been confirmed.

Routh has not starred in a feature film and has had only guest recurring roles. Director Bryan Singer, however, has repeatedly stated that he would like an unknown actor in the role.

Meanwhile, screenwriter Dan Harris has told The Chicago Sun-Times that the script, tentatively titled Superman Returns, will follow events from the Christopher Reeve movies.

"He'll begin in his late 20s. He lost his powers in Superman 2 and now he has the powers back. But something has happened because he's been away for a long time. We're taking off from the first two Superman films with Christopher Reeve. We use his history and then move on with big twists and great special effects."

Harris also revealed that he wanted to have had Christopher Reeve involved in some capacity. "It would have been so nice to have Chris be a part of the new film as an adviser. Who knows what his title would have been, but we know Chris would have loved being involved. Being Superman meant so much to him."

I think they can really make it better this time around. The technology made the series a bit cheesy at the time. I am looking forward to this one. But the new actor doesn't have Reeves' charisma.

i actually prefer that they pick an unknown to play the part. i mean come on, the guy is stepping in as fuckin REEVE. i have faith in him.

and yeh, the old stuff was sick but of course didnt look as good as it could. that not to say they wont completely over do it tho. but it sunds like they really want to make it live up to the old ones.

I heard on the radio here in Australia that they were filming it (or part of it) here in Sydney, starting next month!

If this is true it will be good to have another big budget movie filmed here. Sydney scrubs up well in movies.

It was pretty cool when the matrix was released to see buildings in the background (when they are on rooftops etc) that I have worked at.
