Looking for an old alien movie...

Hi Folks.

I'm looking for another movie that I don't know the name of, hope someone here can help.

I remember seeing a clip of this movie on Sky One, for Sky Movies, YEARS ago. It must have been around the 1990's. The clip showed what looked like actual news footage. I can't remember the footage exactly but at one point it is reported that a alien space craft had entered Earth's atmosphere and it was shot down by a pilot in a plane. Then it is discovered that the aliens had come here in peace.

The thing that made this movie stand out in my mind was that it used actually footage of world leaders. If I recall correctly, at one point it shows a clip of President Bill Clinton saying he was meeting with the leaders of the world to discuss the situation, and I think there was also a clip of Pope JohnPaul II but not 100% sure on that one.

I never got the name of this film so I have absolutely nothing to go on there. But this was so unique, it looked great!! Does this ring a bell with anyone? Does anyone know what this film was?

I can't remember the name but its something like The Gut......I know The Gut is incorrect but its a similiar title. I believe The_Villian mentioned it recently.........

Sounds like Contact... maybe. Clinton was president round that time so yeah it could be it. I don't remember much of the film.
