Consequences and Reprecussions
"Oh shit! Did you hear that?" she asked.
"It's nothing." he said, "Probably just the wind." He reached over the arm of the couch and switched on the lamp. Warm light instantly filled the room. "See, nothing to worry about." "This place is just so creepy. I cant believe you used to live out here" she said, then pulled herself closer to him. "You finally got some time off and we have to spend it here." He sighed, and streched his arm out, letting it rest across her shoulders. "Well, Honey, I stay on the road most of the year, and when I do get to relax, I like to come back and check on the old place." he said, then grinned and added,"Besides, I like the woods." If only she knew the real reason, he thought. She leaned forward and kissed him gently on the lips. "I'm sorry baby, I dont mean to nag. I'm just still kinda freaked out. They just found all those kids dead, and they still havent found the killer. It just scares me to death." She had to bring that up. "Relax babe," he said,"that was miles away from here." He was lying. It was just across the lake. "that guy's probably long gone." Another lie. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Besides i've got a big, strong man like you to protect me." She began unbuttoning her blouse. " What i really want to know is, are we gonna fuck down here, or upstairs." She laughed and reached for his crotch. he stopped her hand and took it in his. I'm not in the mood just yet." he said. He knew what happened when you took sex too casually. Bad things. She frowned, then said, "Are you feeling alright? I mean, its been so long." Not long enough, he thought. What is it with people these days? It seemed like every time he went to work, everyone was doing it. He'd be strolling along, minding his own business, and there they'd be, going at it like a couple of rabbits. No respect is what it is, and he wouldn't have it. He showed them the error of their ways. No matter if they were in their cars, or cabins, and they were out in the middle of the woods. They should have known better. "Geeze, you ok? Youve been staring out into space for a few minutes now. I was getting worried," she said. She stood up and walked over to the door where the bags were and unzipped one of the pockets. She reached inside and pulled out a small wooden box. "I've got what you need right here." "What is that?" he asked. She smiled and said, "Something thats gonna chill you out and blow your mind at the same time." She opened the box. Inside was a small bag of a green leafy substance and a pack of rolling papers. "This will get you in the mood." |

"You know how i feel about that stuff. I dont like it." He said.
"Dont tell me youve never tried it before." She said, then she started to giggle. "I thought everyone tried it at least once." "Well not me." he said. he watched her hands as she started to roll a joint, and he felt something welling up inside him. Something that almost felt like hatred, almost like fear. He knew what weed, alchol, and sex would do to a person, what it was doing to the youth of this country. He Knew, his momma had told him. She still tells, in the back of his mind. And yet, he's never had anyone offer to share something like this with him. No one ever offered to include him in anything. Except her. "There, all finished. You gonna help me smoke this or what?" she said, as she fired it up. "I don't know if i should." he said. She coughed, then said, "then shit, thats why you need to try this. Come on, for me." She held it out for him to take. For reasons unknown to him, he took it, and as they passed it back and forth, he felt himself loosening up, felt his troubles falling away. For once, he didnt hear the voice. She stood up, took him by the hand and led him upstairs. They made love, long and hard, like they've never done before. Afterwards, he rolled off of her and began to wonder if this was the way they felt, before he got to them. All those kids he had killed, just for using drugs and having sex. His mother had told him that they deserved it. That he had to do it. That she would make him do it. But still, he was confused. Why was it so wrong if it felt so good. Maybe he was wrong for killing them. Maybe mother was wrong. "Whats wrong baby, you're awfully quiet. Still buzzing?" she asked. "I cant help but feel like we are doing something wrong." he said, wiping the sweat off his brow. "What could be wrong about getting high and having great sex?" she asked. "Now if we were in one of those horror movies, we'd be in trouble." she laughed. "Real funny," he said. "I'm going downstairs for a snack." He didn't bother to turn on the hall light as he went down the stairs, and as he reached the living room, he heard a noise. It was coming from the patio door. He walked to the lamp and pulled the cord. Nothing. No power. In the pale moon light he could see the door was open. He took a step back, panic racing through his body. "Mother?" He asked hesitantly. "No, I aint your mother." the man in the mask said, raising his machete slowly. Instantly, he began to reconsider the errors of his ways. |

That is what i thought. I dont think the writing was vague, i think i just had a couple wires crossed.
Very clever. :) there are places out there that will accept short stories that are only a couple thousand, or even only a few hundred words long. I would seriously consider trying to get that published. Might be worth a few bucks. Check out this site: http://www.fictionfactor.com/fiction2.html It has allkinds of places to gtry and get published. Look at what the Sci-fi channel site is offering... 20 cents a word! most scifi mags are offering 6-8 cents! i am trying to get some pure sci-fi down to try and capitalise on it... unfortunatley, most horror publishers are only offering 3-4 cents a word. i guess that is something, but not as good as the sci fi market...
