Bradbury?
Any fans of Ray Bradbury on the forum? My favorite is, as you might be able to guess, his Halloween Tree, followed closely by the ethereal Illustrated Man.
![]() For me, Bradbury is a writer who perfectly straddles the lines between horror, sci-fi, and fantasy (not a bad idea from a marketing point of view!). I have heard some of his later work was quite bad, however. Feel free to share your memories or favorite novels. |

I'll be honest, I've only read a couple of his books, "Farenheit 451" and "Martian Chronicles". But, I like them!

One of my absolute favorite authors. I feel a kinship because he grew up in the Midwest in a simpler time and witnessed a lot of change in the world, very similar to my background.
I love every single book, so it's hard to pick favorites, but I think Something Wicked This Way Comes, and the collection October Country really stand out. He and Lovecraft are the two biggest influences on my own writing. Last edited by neverending; 07-29-2014 at 12:12 PM. |

I got to meet Mr. Bradbury and hear him speak. Somewhere I got an autographed book from him.

Very fortunate. I was surprised to learn of the man's politics some years ago, a rather conservative gent, and wondered about its cause. But then that disposition is true of more sci-fi writers than you think.

A favorite writer of mine also, certainly one of the ABC's of science fiction. I read an interview with him a number of years where he said something to the effect Mel Gibson purchased the rights to Fahrenheit 451 and was planning to remake it. Anyone know anything about this?

Enjoy his short stories more, especially "The Foghorn" and "Mars is Heaven", but truly one the best ever and the literary world is a poorer place after his passing.

My English II honors class is about to begin reading Fahrenheit 451, actually. REALLY looking forward to it. It looks really interesting.
