Rosemary’s Baby

Nearly a week after the success of its live broadcast “The Sound of Music” musical, NBC has officially greenlit another version of a classic project and will be airing a four-hour miniseries adaptation of “Rosemary's Baby.”

See, what makes Rosemary's Baby such an amazing movie, isn't the story, though the story is creepy enough. It's the paranoid atmosphere and building of suspense that Polanski gave it, as well as the affecting performance of Mia Farrow. Without them, whatever you've got is going to be very, very average.

Don't I think somebody else could "do their own take" on the story and make something just as good? Quite frankly, no. Polanski and Farrow, perfect synergy.

Have you read the book? I really need to.

I also need to rewatch the movie. I remember finding it one of the hands-down most creepy movies that I had ever seen - It was just plain unsettling to me. I'd like to see how it's held up over time for me.

I'm not saying the origional film is bad, but the character of Rosemary was too timid for me to feel any pity for her. Since the entire film is really just about what she goes through then it wasn't very enjoyable for me. Its like just leave dummy, they are witches. Though I can understand that without her being severely timid there is no film. As for a remake... no, just no...

Well, you're definitely in the minority there. The film is generally regarded as one of the greatest suspense movies ever made.
