Indie Horror Movie Poster Feedback Needed

Hello,
I am the director of an Indie horror movie called, BEACON POINT. It's a lost in the woods horror flick with lots of twists and turns. Check the trailer out here:

We are looking for ideas on the best poster for the movie. I thought folks here might have some good insight into what makes a great horror poster? Actors faces? Scary stuff? Strange images? Creepy?

Let us know your thoughts!

Shot with cAmera close to the ground. Image of muddy trail leading to the idol. Trees left and right. Sparse around the idol but spreading behind it. Footprints leading part way to the idol the stop. Backlight the idol so it's mostly dark. Only give hints or what is carved into it. Don't go the ubiquitous mist look. Contrast vivid greens of the trees with the wet earth. Just a suggestion. What do I know. Looks like a compelling film.

I think Joe E has a pretty solid idea there. If it's done well, the muddy trail shot could be pretty awesome.
