I have a feeling that "Lincoln" is going to run away with it.

My vote goes to Life of Pi.

Best actor will probably be Daniel Day-Lewis.

That'll be all.

A horror movie hardly ever gets nominated for best picture. The last won to win I think was Silence of the Lambs. Horror has a bad rap in Hollywood, but as a genre brings in some of the most cash. I guess the academy doesn't know which side its bread is buttered.

I completely agree with Michael Myers. The horror genre has often included some of the best artistic films in history that never got nominated. They often talk about subjects that no one wants to touch. However, time and agian quite a few that deserved to be nominated never were. Films like The Shining (1980), Rosemary's Baby (1968), The Cabin in the Woods (2012), just to name a few. In the entire period from 1929, when the Academy Awards were created (although not the Golden Globes) to today ony five horror movies have ever been nominated for Best Picture: The Exorcist (1973), Jaws (1975), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), The Sixth Sense (1999), and Black Swan (2009). As Michael Myers mentioned, The Silence of the Lambs (1991) was the only horror film to ever win Best Picture (it also took home four of the other major awards. I think this reality is most unfortunate, even high critical apporval does not mean the film will get nominated because quite a few horror films had this, but were still not nominated.

Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman for Les Mis, please. Other than that, I haven't seen any of the Best Movie candidates. Argo and Django Unchained are next on my list of Must-Sees.

Finally saw "Les Miserables" last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Who knew Russell Crowe could sing?! :D
